Influences and photographers you like- My inspiration usually comes from art other than photography. I have always been a huge fan of european classic painting and old films. My favorite artists include Degas, Manet, Caravaggio. Photographers I love include Erwin Olaf, Gregory Crewdson, Philip Lorca Di Corcia, Steven Meisel. Favorite filmmakers include Samuel Fuller (The Naked Kiss, Shock Corridor), David Lynch (Blue Velvet, Twin Peaks), Hayao Miyazaki (Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away), Fritz Lang (Metropolis, M).
A little about you- Tamar Levine (born 1983) is a Los Angeles fashion, portrait, and fine art photographer.
Since receiving her BFA with honors at Art Center College of Design (2005), she has been regularly shooting for magazines, ad campaigns, album artwork, and her own fine art projects.  Tamar’s favorite thing about photography is being able to manipulate the frame and the environment. She primarily takes pictures of narratives - fictional people in a fictional environment. She loves lighting and uses it to shape the emotion of the image. Clients include Filter Magazine, Metro.pop Magazine, Interscope Records, Atlantic Records, Island Records, Angeleno Magazine, Nine Inch Nails, OC Weekly, XCVI Wearables, YRB Magazine, Upstate Magazine, UCLA Magazine, Green Dragon, David Tishbi Jewelry. Awards include the 3rd Annual Photography Masters Cup Nominee Award (2009), PDN Pix Digital Imaging Contest (2007) and the Prix de la Photographie Paris (2007).
